marítimas de la localidad le prestaran todos los auxilios que esten en su poder. Los artienlos y mercaderias que se salvaren no estaran sujetos á pagar derechos de muportation, á no ser que se introduzcan para el consumo; y los buques disfrutaran de las mismas franquicias que en igualdad de circunstancias se concede en el Perú á los buques de las otras Naciones.
XII.
Todo ciudadano Peruano en China que tenga motivo de queja contra un El Cónsul se informará Chino, se dirijirá á su Cónsul exponiéndole el cargo. debidamente de la cuestion y empleará todos sus esfuerzos para terminarla amigablemente.
Del mismo modo cuando un Chino turiese que quejarse de un ciudadano Peruano en China, el Cónsul oirá su queja y hará todo lo posible para restablecer la armonia entre las dos partes.
Si el Cónsul no pudiese arreglar la cuestion de ese modo, pedirá entonces la asistencia de la respectiva Autoridad China, y de comun acuerdo decidiran el enso conforme á los principios de equidad.
XIII.
Todo súbdito Chino que faose culpable de cualquier acto criminal cometido contra algun ciudadano Peruano en China, será reducido á prision y castigado por las Autoridades Chinas, con arreglo á las leyes de China.
El ciudadano Peruano que en China cometiese algun crimen contra un súbdito Chino, será reducido á prision y castigado por el Cónsul Peruano conforme á las leyes del Perú.
XIV.
Todas las diferencias que se susciten entre ciudadanos Peruanos en China ya sea sobre derechos personales, ya versen sobre derechos relativos á la propiedad, Las controversias que se someteran á la jurisdiccion de las Autoridades Peruanas. ocurrieren en China entre ciudadanos del Perú y ciudadanos ó súbditos de otra Nacion extrangera, seran arregladas segun los tratados que existan entre el Perú y dichas Naciones. Pero si en estas controversias se hallasen envueltos súbditos Chinos, la Autoridad China tomará parte en los procedimientos judiciales, como en los casos para los cuales se providencia en los Articulos 12 y 13 de este Tratado.
XV.
Los súbditos Chinos en el Perú podran acudir sin obstáculo á los Tribunales de justicia del Perú para reclamar y defender lo que convenga á su derecho; gozaran á esto respecto de los mismos derechos y prerogativas que los ciudadanos del pais; y seran tratados en todo como los eiudadanos ó súbditos de las otras Naciones, residentes en el Perú.
XVI.
Las Partes Contratantes convienen en que el Gobierno, Funcionarios públicos y ciudadanos de la República del Perú gozaran completa é igualmente de todos los privilegios, derechos, inmunidades, jurisdiccion y ventajas que puedan haberse concedido ó que en adelante se concedan por Su Magestad el Emperador de la China al Gobierno, Funcionarios públicos y ciudadanos ó súbditos de cual- quiera otra Nacion.
Así mismo, el Gobierno, Funcionarios públicos y súbditos del Imperio de China gozaran en el Perú de todos los derechos, privilegios, inmunidades y ventajas de todo género que en el Perú disfrutan el Gobierno, los Funcionarios públicos y los ciudadanos ó súbditos de la Nacion mas favorecida.

XII.
Peruvian citizens in China having reason to complain of a Chinese, shall proceed at once to their Consular Officer and state to him their grievance. The Consul will inquire into the case, and do his utmost to arrange it amicably.
In like manner, if a Chinese have reason to complain of a Peruvian citizen in China, the Consular Officer shall listen to his complaint, and endeavour to come to a friendly arrangement.
Should the Consular Officer not succeed in making such an arrangement, then he shall request the assistance of the competent Chinese Officer, that they may together decide the matter according to the principles of equity.
XIII.
Chinese subjects guilty of a criminal action towards a Peruvian citizen in China, shall be arrested and punished by the Chinese Authorities, according to Chinese laws.
Peruvian citizens in China who may commit any crime against a Chinese subject, shall be arrested and punished according to the laws of Peru, by the Peruvian Consular Officer.
XIV.
All questions in regard to rights, whether of property or person, arising between Peruvian citizens in China, shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Peruvian Authorities. Disputes between citizens of Peru and those of other Foreign Nations shall be decided in China according to the Treaties existing between Peru and those foreign Nations. In all cases however, of Chinese subjects being concerned in the matter, the Chinese Authorities may interfere in the proceeding according to Articles 12 and 13 of this Treaty.
XV.
Chinese subjects in Peru shall have free and open access to the Courts of Justice of Peru for the prosecution and defence of their just rights; they shall enjoy in this respect the same rights and privileges as native citizens, and shall also be treated in every way like the citizens and subjects of other countries resident in Peru.
XVI.
The Contracting Parties agree, that the Government, Public Officers and citizens of the Republic of Peru shall fully and equally participate in all privileges, rights, immunitios, jurisdiction and advantages that may have been, or may be hereafter, granted by His Majesty the Emperor of China, to the Government, Public Officers, citizens or subjects of any other Nation.
In like manner, the Government, Public Officers and subjects of the Empire of China, shall enjoy in Peru all the rights, privileges, immunities and advantages of every kind which in Peru are enjoyed by the Government, Public Officers, citizens or subjects of the most favored nation.
XVII.
